Focusrite Saffire
Focusrite gives Gearwire a look at the Saffire LE, a stripped-down version of original Saffire Firewire interface. The LE features 24-bit AD/DA conversion, VST/AU effects, six inputs, and of course, the Firewire interface.

STEPHANIE SEIMOVICH: Hi. My name is Stephanie Seimovich, and I’m with Focusrite and Novation. This is Summer NAMM in Austin 2006. I’m going to talk about a brand new product called Saffire LE. Saffire LE is pretty much a sister version to our previous product, the Saffire. The big difference is that the older Saffire has DSP effects as well as AU and VST effects. The new Saffire LE only has the VST and the Audio Unit, so you get a Focusrite compressor, a Focusrite EQ, Focusrite amp modeling, and also a Focusrite reverb that you can use in your host application. Saffire LE has six ins and eight outs. Of those you have two XLR preamps on the front and then you have line inputs on the front as well. This is your headphone output here. This is your gain control for input 1 and this is your gain control for input 2. I turn around the unit. This is your outputs on the back and your additional inputs, analog inputs, 3 and 4 on the back.

You have MIDI in and out and you have SPDIF in and out, two FireWire ports so you can hook up your hard drive to the back of the unit. Saffire LE also ships with its own Saffire Contro, which you can see on the poster back here. This is how you can set up separate headphones mixes for your I/Os. Saffire LE also ships with a small version of BFD with the Guru and also Ableton Lite. Saffire LE has already started to hit the stores and we’re very proud to have it released. Thank you very much.
