Fohhn XM-4 Compact Stage Monitor: Because These Days, Everyone Needs A Portable Fohhn
When choosing stage monitors, most people don't factor in the non-audible aspects -- gas for transport, stage space, van space, roadie healthcare. . . when you consider all the hidden expenses of large stage rigs, can you really afford to get anything bigger than the Fohhn XM-4 compact wedge monitors? What I'm implying is that no, you can't
The Fohhn XM-4 stage monitors are relatively tiny for their performance. At 590mm W x 340mm H x 450mm D, and only 23kg the XM-4 is pretty small, even at current metric-to-U.S conversion rates. Still, it handles 1000 watts program, 2000 watts peak, and covers the stage with a dispersion angle of 80° x 60°.
The sound lavished upon the performers is top-notch as well. A 12” bass/mid woofer and 3.5” high-frequency driver with 1.4“ CD horn provide incredible detail from 45 Hz - 20 kHz, perfect for speech and music applications.
With such a diminutive size, you might be tempted to kick the XM-4 around, just on principal. To which I say: go for it! The XM-4 is built to withstand the rigors of the road with its quality multiplex birch wood frame, waterproof construction and a scratch-resistant plastic coating. A sturdy metal grille behind the acoustic foam facade protects the speaker, and rubber feet protect the housing on three sides and prevent the monitor from sliding.
While the XM-4 might be small, its price tag is not. £1776.75 is what each unit will cost you, or $FORGET.IT in U.S. dollars.
