Fulltone Mosfet Bassdrive Drives Amplifies The Toadies' Lead Singer's Basest Drives

The Toadies

Vaden Lewis is, I believe, the last member of The Toadies to get back to Gearwire. He was probably always late to gym class too. He chatted a little with Gearwire about his Mosfet BassDrive.

Tell me about the Mosfet BassDrive. Talk to me about what it does for your guitar's tone?

I run a JCM800 with a relatively clean sound (cue mid-70's AC/ DC), so I use the Mosfet for my "b" channel. It adds distortion with bass, which most distortion pedals can't do. It adds a little bump in volume too.

How simple is it to use? Is this a distortion you pull out of the box, plug in, and go, or do you need a PhD?

Plug and play. Ya just gotta play with the settings to find the right tone.

How about durability? I always ask this of bands on the road. Say, for instance, some drunk poured 62 Miller Lites on it. Would it still work?

Never tried drowning it. My crew is very strict about liquids near electricity, so they discourage fans from getting our stuff wet. I have had one die on me, but only after a few laps around the US.

Is there anything you do not like about it; anything you would change if you could?

I'd get a little cleaner overdrive out of it. Probably something I could do if I spent a few minutes with it, but I'm not a big fan of tinkering with gear.

Tell me a little about what you are up to now -- recording, tour, shows, etc.

Shows. . . shows. . . shows. . .

I need awesome gear... I'd like a free gear catalog!
My opinion is awesome. I'd like to take a gear survey
