FH(fx) FuzzHugger Great Wall: The Only Fuzz Pedal You Can Hear From Outer Space
Named after the famously large left field wall in Fenway Park (I think), FuzzHugger(fx) announces the Great Wall. One of the most fuzz-centric pedal manufacturers out there, FuzzHugger challenges standard fuzz boxes with the mighty claim that the Great Wall is bigger than a Big Muff. With five interactive controls, it's at least got more to tweak.
If you thought fuzz couldn't be versatile, guess again. FuzzHugger attaches a variety of descriptors to the possible types of fuzz you can achieve with this pedal: focused, splattery, thick, huge, dark, ragged, unique decay, thin and, again, huge. Maybe they should change the brand name to FuzzHUGER!
In addition to Trim, Gain, Volt, Tone, Level and bypass controls, the Great Wall also features an on / off toggle that switches between tone filtering and a raw, open tone. Here's a more in-depth look at the controls.
- Trim: Back things off to a thinner, nastier, almost-gated tone. Ups the brightness a bit when rolled back. Also, if you experience any RF interference (this is a high-gain fuzz!), notch it back just slightly to eliminate it . . .kind of like a handy internal trimpot that's external!
- Gain / Fuzz: Increases both the fuzz level and the amount that the second half of the fuzz stage is overdriven -- from a fat, thick fuzz, to a open fuzz dist, to overfuzzed and more focused.
- Volt: A voltage reducer, starting at 9v and reducing for texture change, unique gain reduction, and dying battery tones!
- Tone: Tone control to filter with a broad range to adjust your frequencies (with on / off toggle to bypass the control, thus opening up the sound for full-on, unfiltered, rawer tone).
- Tone Bypass (Toggle): Allows you to bypass the tone control, eliminating its filter and allowing you to open up the tone in yet other way!
- Level: Your master volume control . . . with a huge amount of available volume!

Kudos for the High on Fire reference.
