FXpansion BFD BOMB Makes Me Wish I Hadn't Used All My Drumline References Already
Anybody with FXpansion's BFD 1.5 or BFD2 might be interested in the news that FXpansion's new BOMB expansion pack may be exploding onto a computer near you. BOMB, which stands for Big Orchestral Marching Band adds -- what else -- orchestral and marching drum instruments to your collection.
Even if you already have some percussion sounds on your computer, the sounds on BOMB are unlike anything FXpansion has previously released. Its marching snares have a ton of crack and punch and quad toms and hand cymbals provide different tones than standard kit toms and cymbals.
Not to mention, tonal bass drums can give you an alternative to low-end power you'd expect from analog drum sounds, so put your 303 away. You also receive timpani and chimes, which operate over 1.5 octaves and provide some melodic percussion to enlarge your mixes.
The sounds on BOMB were recorded using multiple mic positions, articulations and velocity layers. Most sounds use up to 50 velocity layers and snares go into an even higher level of detail.
