FXpansion DCAM Synth Squad: Elite Software Synthesizer Team Boasts Of New Emulation Protocol
During the infancy of synthesizers, each significant period realizes a certain synthesis method such as the popularity of subtractive synthesis in the late 60s and 70s to the dominance of FM synthesis in the 80s up to the advancement of sampling in the 90s. In this day and age, it has been realized that each synthesis method has its own unique character, making the synthesizer an instrument into its own. Physical modeling came at an opportune time when these various synthesis methods are being revisited which then leads to new techniques for software emulation of hardware synths. DCAM, a new model in circuit emulation is that patented feature in FXpansion DCAM Synth Squad.
DCAM Synth Squad is a suite of software synthesizers featuring a technology known as DCAM or Discrete Component Analog Modeling. Rather than treating a piece of hardware in its entirety to analyze its overall output, DCAM emulates circuitry based on each individual component and its structural context. Such a method, as FXpansion claims, leads to a realistic model of a circuit, preserving its nonlinearity, behavior, and structure, giving unparalleled vibrancy and realism.
The focus of DCAM Synth Squad are three synthesizers namely Strobe, Amber, and Cypher. These synths, while exhibiting old school analog synthesis models, DO NOT in any way try to imitate the famous synthesizers of the past as they combine the best of the past with the technology of the present.
Strobe is the monosynth of the group, excellent for leads, basses, and pads. It also features polyphonic capabilities, oscillator stacking, multimode filter and deep modulation. Amber is the string ensemble synth with a formant filter, three separate chorus models, varieties of playing responses, and flexible modulation. Cypher exhibits analog FM synthesis with dual waveshapers and filters making it a unique instrument. Also included in the DCAM Synth Squad is the semi-modular layering environment for the DCAM synths called Fusor, which has impressive modulation capabilities to allow you to drive other synths, effects, and other devices using its LFOs.
FXpansion DCAM Synth Squad also boasts of features such as MIDI learn and expressive performance control, "Analogue" control, oversampling, TransMod and FuseMod modulation systems, and MIDI-controlled audio effects to give you a wealth of sound shaping options. DCAM Synth Squad is available in VST, AU, and RTAS formats and sells for 249.00 USD.
