With the economy in such wretched shape, it's important that we stop importing sounds in from sound producing nations like Saudio Arabia and Turn-It-Up-To-Elevenezuela and start using our own untapped resources -- find sound domestically, so to speak. Galbanum Abstraction 03: Found Sound Club Edition is a sample library that, if implemented, will do all that for $39.95 for a single format and $14.95 for each additional format, meaning it won't be too much of a dent on your deficit.

Like the rest of the Abstraction Sample Line, the third installment is a downloadable pack of cutting edge loops, hits, samples and kits in Apple Loops, Acid Loops, REX2, AIFF and WAV file formats. It's also a "curved goat's horn overflowing with fruit and ears of grain that is used as a decorative motif emblematic of abundance" of pseudo-organic glitch rhythms and sounds sampled from objects that are probably lying around your house -- handsaws, power drills, a shovel, maybe a tarp, a bag of lye and even the kitchen sink. At least that's what's lying around my house . . . and Galbanum has turned it all into one homegrown drum kit.

All loop content in Abstraction 03 is natively 128 BPM, but it's easily stretchable in case you write songs that aren't at 128 BPM. Galbanum recommends Abstraction 03 for a variety of electronic music applications, more experimental rock music and all types of scoring.

Some notes on Abstraction 03:

• All loops are provided without standard embedded kick/snare/high-hat patterns. This makes the loops much more usable in various genres of dance music where the producer is free to mix and arrange them with his own favorite samples.
• All samples are made in stereo and make use of extreme spatial processing techniques at the sample level to produce sounds that literally jump out of the speakers. This produces loops which are very active spatially while keeping perfect silence in-between hits when desired. The result is loops that can cut and punch through even dense mixes without taking up huge amounts of mix space.
• All loops are provided without additional auxiliary reverb or delay effects. This keeps the loops pristinely clean and sharp, enables easy custom slicing and editing, and allows send effects to be added as needed at the mix stage by the producer to perfectly suite the needs of the given project. The result is more flexibility and better coherence between the loops and the other elements of the project.
