G&L "Spalted Maple" ASAT Bluesboy Is A Real "Fungi"
Earth Day is totally over, and you know what that means: rare stores of exotic woods are once again totally fair game for commercial exploitation! To celebrate the post-4/22 lull in environmental awareness, G&L has announced a limited run of rare spalted maple finished ASAT Bluesboys. Yay!
The spalted maple top will be affixed to an alder body, and the rest of the guitar will basically be a standard ASAT Bluseboy:
- hard rock maple neck in a clear gloss finish
- 22 fret rosewood fingerboard
- nickel plated Seymour Duncan Seth Lover humbucker in the neck position
- G&L Magnetic Field Design ASAT Classic single coil pickup in the bridge position
- 3-way selector switch, volume and tone controls
- Sperzel non-locking tuners
- traditional 'boxed steel' bridge with six individual saddles
In order to offset the harvesting of ultra-rare spalted maple for the creation of these guitars, G&L has developed and built a special hyperbaric chamber which recreates the specific environmental variables that propagate the occurrence of natural spalting. Haha, just kidding!

Spalted Maple
sweet looking body on that axe!
