Gearwire Crosstalk #030 - Part 3: Turn Your Guitar Into A Hand-Pedal-Steel

April 27, 2007
Duesenberg Multi-Bender

"Easily the coolest thing I saw [from Musikmesse]." - Dan Agosto, Gearhead

In this section of Gearwire Crosstalk #030 the guys check out video of video of the Duesenberg Multi-Bender. This product allows a player to engage hand-pedals that act in the same way as the foot-pedals of a pedal steel guitar. The bridge can be a replacement bridge on a Telecaster style guitar. The Multi-Bender is truly mind-bending.

Check out the the official Duesenberg website for more details.

Finally! I've always wondered why someone didn't invent something like this. That way you don't have to buy a Fender with P-Bender on it. Once I get a tele I'm so totally saving up for this Bender, that's the kind of gear I'm looking for.

Not new at all...

I must tell you that this is by no means a new invention. Players in Nashville have been doing this since the late 60's/early 70's. You can see the original at http://bigsbypalmpedal.com . Players were doing it before Bigsby picked it up, but Bigsby was the first to make it available to the general public. It appears that Duesenberg has ripped it off in a big way. What is it with German companies ripping products off (...Behringer...)?
