Gearwire Crosstalk #030 - Part 5: JazzMutant Dexter

Gearwire Crosstalk #030 - Part 5
The JazzMutant Dexter is the second in a line of multi-touchscreen controllers from the company. The last offering, the Lemur, was mainly designed for live applications and experimental musicians. The Dexter takes a much more structured approach. The interface is designed for use as a DAW controller, meaning it would basically act as a mixing interface. To get more details check out this section of Gearwire Crosstalk #030.

Looking forward to the next

Looking forward to the next one! The touch screen looks cool but too bad it has a low resolution limiting you to 8 channels. I kind of dislike switching banks... With my Tascam US-2400 I have to switch very little, as 2 X 24 ch is enough most of the time. You know what would be cool? Make a thin multi-touch screen with the dimensions of a computer keyboard to replace the keyboard! So the layout changes with the application. Be it photoshop or a DAW. With the DAW you use more mouse and EQ stuff than you press keys, so it should be more useful when the keyboard touchscreen displays the channel settings (with a button top left or so to return to typing keys).

yeah... in photoshop u could even have a workspace where u could switch to a graphic tablet preset for example ... or games & make it the price of a keyboard.. ;)
