New Moog Ads Raise Questions About Meat Product Synths

July 17, 2007
Sausage and Synths

Bill Holland: So, sausages...exactly what comes to mind when one thinks of breakfast on the frontier, greasy spoon diners at 1am, and...Moog synthesizers?

Joe Wallace Are those REAL pork sausages? Or is it that soy crap? Anything is possible, but I will tell you this--if those damn things are being served at the breakfast bar at Summer NAMM, I'll take a pass. I bet those are made of TOFU. Hey, remember that Dead Milkmen album Metaphysical Graffiti? The song that had that quote, "You ever go to eat a pure pork sausage only to find it's got little HAIRS growin' all over it?"

EEEwwwwwwww.

Bill Holland Pork and Moog? Together? That's what this (supposedly unofficial) ad wants us to think. Besides, everyone likes patch cables in their bacon and eggs.

Sausage, of course, has long been valued for it's fat, analog sound properties. In fact, this same sausage was played on the unfinished Yes project, Tales from the Eternal Pork Processing Planet.

These are fake Moog ads made for a University advertising class a couple of years ago.

re: these are fake

yeah, I gathered they were unofficial, but they are still just bizarre. Regardless, it is interesting to look at them from a marketing perspective. Would this actually sell a synth? It would definitely get people to pay attention. Thanks for the input, though.

how about pickles

By: original anon coward (not verified)
Hey Bill - sorry I appeared a jerk pointing out they were fake... Maybe they should have used a deli pickle instead of sausage since it has better electrical properties... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3795273284666354708 or just google "electric pickle"
