Genelec AIWS5041A Active In-Wall Subwoofer Inspires Other Subs To Get Off The Floor, Get Jobs
Most subwoofers loaf around under your mixing console, taking up room and generally exhibiting the countenance of a cantankerous-yet-lazy pitbull. Not the Genelec AIWS5041A Active In-Wall Subwoofer, however. The AIWS5041A is designed to be mounted in any standard 16" stud bay*, where it pours beautifully clear lows through your control room while demurely staying out of the way of cabling and your feet.
The 6 31/32" H x 2 1/8" W x 10 1/4" D subs are fitted with two, 6.5" drivers, matched with a tuned port. Four independent mounting brackets isolate the woofers acoustically from their supporting walls, ensuring low distortion, and cutting down on the amount of repainting the walls will require.
While the speakers are technically "active", the power amplifier is a separate , rack-mountable unit. It supplies 125 watts to the AIWS5041A while keeping the enclosure-component's weight down at 33 lb (15 kg).
Performance specs:
- Maximum sound pressure level: 105 dB
- Frequency response: 35-95 Hz (± 3 dB)
- Room volume: up to 3000 cubic ft (85 cubic meters)
The AIWS5041As join Genelec's line of other in-wall products, including the AIW25 Active In-Wall Loudspeaker, the AIC25 Active In-Ceiling Loudspeaker, the AOW312 Active On-Wall Loudspeaker and the AU256A Under-Water Tweeter (discontinued).
