Genelec SE DSP Monitoring System Sounds Out At AES
Though we didn't have a chance to get over to the Genelec booth at AES, the monitoring giants were doing more than sitting quietly at the convention with their introduction of the SE DSP Monitoring System. The SE stands for "Small Environment" as these monitors are designed to combat acoustic problems that arise in smaller recording and mixing environments.
The new SE DSP Monitoring System is backed by the SE7261A 10" subwoofer and fronted by a pair of 8130A digital input active monitors. The SE7261A handles all necessary connections to the host computer and middle-mans between the computer and the monitors for simple software controllability.
SE7261A DSP Subwoofer:
- Eight channel AES/EBU bass management
- Four notch filters + Bass Roll-off applied to sub channels
- AutoPhase sub integration
High-pass outputs to 8130A include:
- Two notch filters
- Time of flight compensation
- Level alignment
- Video display delay compensation
8130A Active Monitoring System Features:
- 192 kHz/24 bit digital audio interface.
- Directivity Control Waveguide™ (DCW™) technology for excellent frequency balance even in difficult acoustic environments.
- Integrated design so that the amplifiers and the drivers can be calibrated as a single unit, thereby eliminating the effects of component tolerances and ensuring consistent quality.
- Very low distortion due to a uniquely new rear reflex port design.
