Gepco X-Band Cables: As Endorsed By That Band, X*
Selling audio cabling isn't easy. The differences between the various makes and models of cabling are so subtle, the explanations so esoteric, that companies like Gepco -- who are unveiling their new X-Band audio cables at the upcoming AES 2008 -- need to inject a little spice into their otherwise technical-sounding product dispatches, such as:
"X-Band [cables are] exceptionally easy to strip and terminate . . ."
Hot. Or how about:
"Gepco's G-Flex jacket compound . . . offers additional flaccidity and flex-life . . ."

On to the boring stuff: X-Band conductors are made from finely-stranded, oxygen-free copper to maximize conductivity and protect against corrosion. Each pair is shielded with a dense 95% copper braid to provide additional noise rejection. There will even be dual-shielded versions available for the RF-phobic. The X-Band's stated level of sonic performance is achieved through the cabling of pairs with a tight and precise twist (also hot) and by utilizing a video-grade foam dielectric that significantly reduces capacitance.
