DigiTech Whammy, GSP 21 From Nov. '86

June 26, 2007
Damn Yankees for Digitech

The DigiTech guitar processors of yesterday (November 1986, to be exact) included the Whammy -- hands down one of the finest guitar effect pedals to ever be built. It wasn't just that bending notes and chords with the Whammy introduced all the goofy tones and alien textures one today associates with digital guitar processing - something about the pedal's attack and responsiveness via the pedal mechanism really integrated the sound effects with your style. The Whammy was the first digital pitch-shifting pedal I ever wanted to own because it was the first one I heard that did things that didn't sound stupid. Timeless stuff. Rob Warmowski: I do love the Whammy, but I have to say that this ad features some of the least attractive women I have ever seen.
