Godin Multiac Spectrum: Every Guitar Tone From Acoustic to Zither (MIDI-Dependant)

July 03, 2008
Godin Multiac Spectrum Summer NAMM

With its piezo transducers, lipstick tube neck pickup and 13-pin MIDI connectivity, The new Godin Multiac Spectrum has more voices than Robbin Williams off Riddalin. In order to safely contain such a powerful instrument, Godin enlisted Nashville / New York finger-style ace Ryan Cavanaugh to wield the Multiac Spectrum's hybrid sound.

GODIN REPRESENTATIVE: This is Ryan Cavanaugh and he's playing the new Multiac Spectrum Guitar. The Multiac Series has grown over the years, and the newest addition to the family is in fact the Multiac Spectrum. It's a very unique instrument. It has amazing capabilities because it's a three-voice guitar.

So, it's built similar to an acoustic guitar. We have a braced solid top. It’s all scooped out so that's real acoustic properties. What we've done besides adding the saddle transducers, there's a lipstick pickup so it allows you to blend between the two and really tweak your sound. So, with the lipstick pickup and the volume and the tone, you can really get a lot more depth and loudness to your tone and still get the note definition from the under-saddle transducers.

In addition to that, the guitar has 13-pin capabilities, so you can access your computer or synths or all kinds of different notation software, so it's an incredibly versatile guitar. It's virtually feedback free and it's fully tweakable, so there's no preset sounds. You can actually tweak your acoustic, your pickup, as well as your synth sounds, and then blend them or use one or the other, and there you go. That's the Multiac Spectrum.

GODIN REPRESENTATIVE: Right now, Ryan is plugging the spectrum, the Multiac Spectrum into the SR Technology amplifier. It's an Italian amplifier. It's built 100% in Italy, and Godin Guitars is now the exclusive distributor of SR technology in North America.
