Godin Summit CT: French Canadians Love Their Faux-Active Circuitry
A few months ago (August 2007, to be exact), those innovative fellows over at Godin Guitars came up with a novel way to add tonal variation to their high-end electrics. They call it a high-definition revoicing circuit (or H.D.R.), and it allows the guitarist to switch between a passive or active circuit with the touch of a single button.
The system comes pre-loaded on their new Summit CT guitar, a single cutaway solid body. The mahogany body is topped with a highly figured flamed maple top, and the 24-fret neck features Godin's signature "ergo-cut" profile (it's cut, ergo, it's comfy).
The pickup layout on the Summit CT consists of two Seymour Duncan humbuckers, an Alnico 2 in the neck position and a '59 in the bridge. The pickup circuit features a single volume control, a single tone control and a five selector switch for the 'buckers. Oh, and let's not forget the H.D.R. Circuit, the engaging of which adds gain and enhances picking dynamic and bite.
For just under a G, the Summit CT comes in three purdy colors, and ships with a Godin gig bag. The gig bag features Godin's new H.R.R. circuit: with the flick of a switch, ad Highly Responsive Roadie appears to carry your guitar for you. C'est bon.
