Granelli Audio Labs G5790: Looks Like Someone's Got The Right Idea
Here's a clever little invention. We all know how often the good old Shure SM57 comes in handy. Problem is, the literally straight-forward design of the thing can make it a pain to maneuver around a cramped drum kit. Enter the Granelli Audio Labs G5790. This modded SM57 places a right-angle barrel between the capsule and the XLR jack to make proper snare placement a cinch.
Granelli labs wanted to make sure that their structurally modified SM57 sounded identical to a store-bought Shure, so instead of just getting something a plumber might grab at Lowe's, they had an aluminum joint custom milled for them. The majority of the elbow joint is solid, so that the volume of air behind the capsule is "measurably the same" as in a standard 57.
Whereas an SM57 with XLR cable protrudes almost ten inches from it's mic'd source, the G5790 only protrudes about three inches. It's not hard to see how this could come in handy on crowded stages micing guitar amps in addition to fitting around drum kits.
You can order a G5790 directly from Granelli for $150.

Granelli Audio Labs G5790: Fun Idea, But
Granelli Audio Labs G5790 : For that kind of money it should of had a hinge or pivot making it adjustable !Them it would be really an advantage and worth the bucks! Sennheiser & Nueman have had this for decades...The same money will buy :Sennheiser e604 is the same thing & is even smaller with more top end sizzle....
