Grid1 G1 Lithium Battery-Powered Tube Guitar Amplifier Announced By Grid1
In just a couple weeks, Grid1 will introduce its new G1 guitar amplifier at Winter NAMM 2010. The G1 is said to be the very first professional 60W tube guitar amplifier to be powered by rechargeable lithium batteries. The G1 also runs on standard AC power, but that's not what makes it special. The amp's built-in rechargeable batteries provide up to six hours of audio in any setting.
Weighing in 40 pounds and measuring 27" x 10" x 19", the G1 offers both clean and distortion tube channels, as well as tone controls for each channel (treble / mid / bass), a proprietary lush double-reverb circuit on both channels, and an effects send / return that allows the Send input to act as a preamp output if no return is present.
In addition, the amp features Eminence neodymium magnet speakers, which deliver a warm, rich sound, according to the manufacturer. It's available in a variety of environmentally friendly wood options, such as a bamboo cabinet made with bamboo plywood or a hardwood elm cabinet derived from salvaged fallen trees in Point Reyes, California.
Grid1 will ship the G1 in February 2010 for an estimated price of $3,995 MSRP.
