Hammond XK-System Assembly Demo Video, Summer NAMM 2006

August 25, 2006
Hammond
Dennis and Peter from Hammond demonstrate how to assemble the Pro XK-System in less than two minutes. We actually tried later to get them to do it blind-folded while a techno remix of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" played in the background, but unfortunately we ran out of film. Dennis also gives us a demo of the XK-system played through the new Leslie 3300 amplifier/rotating speaker, and it sounds pretty fly to us.

Leslie 3300

By: Anonymous Coward (not verified)

I've read that the Leslie 3300 has a problem with the upper driver in that if you overload the tube circuit it can cause the voice coil to heat up and fry. Has this problem been resolved and how would I know if the one I purchase has been updated with the fix?
Thanks

PROMO GIRLS: You're watching Gearwire.Com.

DENNIS CAPIGA: My name is Dennis Capiga. I'm the senior vice president of Hammond Suzuki. This is my colleague, Peter. He's the vice president and CFO of Hammond Suzuki. We're going to show you how easy it is to put this whole XK system together. Peter?

The first thing is this is the lower manual folding stand as you can see here. Very easy, very lightweight. The feet on the lower unit fits into these notches in the stand. Once you get those secure, then you take the XK-3. The XK-3 sits into these notches, and the feet go into these two [SOUNDS LIKE] caps. Simply press it in. You can see that solid lock, and you have approximately five cables to plug in and you're wired.

DENNIS CAPIGA: Complete. Next, we take the bench. Here we take our rugged lightweight stand. The bench, this is the strongest portable bench in Hammond Suzuki history. Two knuckles. Notice no tools, no technical experience required.

[DENNIS AND PETER COMPLETING ASSEMBLY OF BENCH]

DENNIS CAPIGA: And we're ready to play with it.

DENNIS CAPIGA: Yeah! Just like a Hammond and Leslie flying. I want you to look at these. These are new 330's, our new 300-watt powerhouse Leslie with a tube preamp. You can't beat that sound guys.
