Hammond G37: Acoustic Guitar Through A Leslie
In our last video on the Hammond G37, we got a chance to hear an electric guitar through the first actual Hammond guitar amp / Leslie speaker combination.
In this video, it still sounds great with an acoustic guitar going through it. The Leslie can be turned off so that the G37 can operate just like a simple speaker cabinet for anything you want to plug into it.
HAMMOND REPRESENTATIVE: We're back with Jim Peterik at NAMM 2008 at the Leslie Booth for Gearwire, and now, looking at this new Leslie specifically for guitar, we're going to deal with the acoustic. This seems to work pretty well with that acoustic. Why don't you give us a run on it, Jim?
JIM PETERIK: Absolutely. It's great for acoustic, very full range.

So anyway --
[SOME APPLAUSE]
JIM PETERIK: Thank you. But you can also stop the speaker and it just becomes just a great full-range cabinet.

So, anything that has a 1/4" jack whether it's a violin, a pedal steel, even a vocal, plug it in to the Leslie, and you get the genuine Leslie sound. It's better than any pedal that simulates that. This is real acoustic space, so there it is.
HAMMOND REPRESENTATIVE: Thanks, Jim. Appreciate your playing and thanks for the extra touch, man.
JIM PETERIK: [LAUGHING] You got it. Thank you.

Wow..
Oooh would i love to have a leslie-cabinet to run my guitar through. This'll probably be way out of my price-range though.
if you're on a budget
I think you can find plans out there to build your own pretty easily.
