HARTMAN Electronics Tommy Bolin Signature Fuzz: Shooting Star Guitar Wizard Remembered
The story of Tommy Bolin is a tragic story for a guitarist who showed a lot of promise, even if he never had a lot of variety. Bolin played for acts like Billy Cobham and Deep Purple before his untimely death in 1976 at the age of 25, but Tommy lives on through the newly released HARTMAN Electronics Tommy Bolin Signature Fuzz.
HARTMAN Electronics worked with the Bolin family and estate to develop the fuzz pedal that reanimates Bolin's classic fuzz tone. Bolin's wide range blended psychedelia, hard rock and jazz, most prominently, while drawing from even more styles.
HARTMAN reverse engineered a circuit from an old model of Tommy's fuzz pedal. It was designed through trial and error via tests between soloed out guitar tracks from Bolin's master reels. HARTMAN came up with a three-knob box that offers a range of fuzz for players with a range like Tommy's.
Theo Hartman sums it up:
"It has been an honor and a labor of love bringing this pedal to life. My thanks and appreciation to the Bolin family and estate, and to Mark and Jeff (you know who you are...) for their enthusiasm and participation in making this pedal a reality.
Lastly, my deepest gratitude to Tommy for the gift of his music."
