Hiwatt

We talk to Hiwatt about their CP103 Pete Townsend Signature Series amplifier. It utilizes old school overdrive techniques -- like splitting your guitar into four different inputs with their own volumes to crank up.  

At Summer NAMM 2008, Gearwire stopped at Hiwatt's booth for some no-nonsense, high gain amplification. Don't let the name fool you though, the Hi-Gain 100 isn't all about blasting your ears off with overdrive. It can punch you in the face with some clean as well.  

You may know Donita Sparks from a little band called L7. Nowadays, Donita plays with the Stellar Moments, and our own Patrick Ogle caught up with the band in Chicago, where Donita clued us in on the challenges of touring in a world where gas is $4/gallon (guess what -- the stack stays at home).  

Hiwatt gets funky with the Custom Wah, which features a variable Q control for adjusting the range of the wah sweep, true-bypass switching, and skateboard-style grip surface for non-slip wahing. Wheels and kneepads not included....
