Hottie Guitar Amps Take Your Tone To E-Leavened
Children between the ages of two and six, out of a developing sense of their surrounding environments and exploratory curiosity, impulsively stick their fingers into things to see A) if their fingers will fit, and b) if there's anything neat in there that can subsequently be thrown or eaten. Some of those children grow up to be guitar amp builders, and instead of their fingers, they impulsively stick their instrument cables' amp-end into various housings and kitchen appliances. These are the people who came up with 'Lil Smokey, Amp In A Can and, now, the Hottie Amp.
The Hottie amp is actually a little over a year old now (they've just added a new "sparkle finish" option, the reason for this article). The company takes vintage (i.e., 50s and 60s) toasters and fits them with a solid state amp, nine-volt battery power supply and a six-inch Jensen MOD speaker. The no-controls amp features a single input and a single output that can drive a 4x12 Marshall cab.
These amps are available for a measly $149, and sound pretty great in addition to their convo-sparking looks. The only thing I couldn't discern from their website, however, was whether or not they actually shoot flames from their load-slots like in the promo photo. I mean, I'm sure I could rig one to do so, but does this void the warranty?
