Hughes & Kettner COREBLADE: The Programmable Tube Guitar Amp That's So CORE, It Requires ALL CAPS

September 28, 2009
Hughes & Kettner COREBLADE

For those seeking guitar tone that's TOTALLY CORE, look no further than the new Hughes & Kettner COREBLADE guitar amp, the manufacture's latest programmable tube head.

COREBLADE is a four-channel beast voiced specifically for searing metal tone, from brutal power chords to searing speed picking to endless sustain. The head also features three parallel FX modules, an intelligent noise gate, Huges & Kettner's proprietary "TSC" automatic power tube management, and analog programming functionality. It even comes with a MIDI floorboard for easy preset access. The 128 user-definable presets can be backed up to your computer via USB. . . dang.

This 100 watt amp ships with EL34s, but thanks to the intelligently adaptive TSC power tube circuit, 6L6's can be used instead. The COREBLADE even lets you use both tube types simultaneously for you really adventurous types. Two of the dedicated overdrive channels (powered by three 12AX7s) feature completely different distortion voicings for more tonal options.

Made to match the COREBLADE head both sonically and aesthetically is the new MC 412 CL cabinet. This 4x12 speaker cab sports four Celestion Classic Lead drivers and handles 320 watts at 8 ohms. Plus it's got the COREBLADE's quasi-tribal logo enlarged and screen-printed over the grille cloth.

Prices on the head alone range around 2,000 €. We couldn't find prices for the cab.
