DAN AGOSTO: Hi. Welcome to Gearwire.Com. We’re taking a look at the Ibanez AWD82. This model is in transparent blue, and it has a maple body and a bubinga top, so you can kind of see the bubinga top. If we look at the sides, you can see the maple on the side. This is a bound top and back. As far as the neck goes, it’s a seven-piece of -- it’s maple and mahogany, three pieces, and if we take a look at the fretboard, we it’s a rosewood bound fingerboard. We got 22 large frets on that and these are special AWD inlays.

Moving on up further, you see we got a standard nut here and 3 x 3 tuning pegs. If we move on back down the guitar, this is kind of an interesting bridge. It’s called the Short Stop 3. It’s a stop tail but it’s just one little piece where the strings kind of roll over and actually terminate like on this side so it’s kind of a short tail -- stop tail bridge.\

So, if we take a look at -- We see we have two knobs, one is for overall volume, one is for overall tone, and these little -- these are both used to control both of the huubucking pickups. These are ACH humbucking pickups. The neck pickup is an ACH-1 and its hotter cousin in the bridge the ACH-2. Let’s see what this neck pickup sounds like.

All right, so we got kind of a jazz tone going on here, see it’s a hollow body, and we got this tone knob up all the way, and it’s so pretty mellow tone.

And if we turn this down, we’ll get even more mellow tones for jazz tones. It’s about halfway down.
