Ibanez PGMFRM1 Paul Gilbert Fireman: It Won't Be Yours, Oh Yes, It Won't Be Yours

January 20, 2009
Ibanez PGMFRM1 Paul Gilbert Fireman Winter NAMM 2009

The centerpiece of the Ibanez booth at this year's Winter NAMM -- positioned to both welcome and taunt visitors -- was the Ibanez PCMFRM1 Paul Gilbert Fireman. This reverse-body iceman may make for a terrible pun, but it also makes for one sweet axe. I'd imagine it plays pretty nice, too, but I'm going to have to leave that up to my imagination, because this very limited production signature model lists for about 10 Gs.

That's right, you're going to have to round up ten members of the Gilbert clan and chain-gang march them to your nearest Ibanez dealer for the chance to own your own Fireman.

JEFF KLOPMEYER: What's up everybody? Jeff Klopmeyer reporting for you for ESP Guitars here at NAMM 2009. We'll tell you a little bit about the PB Series. Now, this is a guitar that's going to be pretty versatile for you. We have guys who play extreme hardcore metal that use these things bu we also do have guys who do kind of jazz, blues, and pop stuff to play these as well. It's a very versatile guitar, and I'll tell you one reason why. It's because the choice of the Seymour Duncan pickups that we have in here, and what they will do is you can really have a nice variety of sound. They are very, very responsive to your volume knob on your guitar. Bring the volume back a little bit, it's going to be kind of clean, very nice, kind of a bluesy feel; you pull that volume up and that thing is going to be high gain and growling at you. So, it's a great guitar. I mean you can rock your leads, it's a good rhythm guitar -- we're seeing it all over the place. We even have country guys playing these guys. A little bit of a departure from ESP, which is mostly known as a very metal-guitar-oriented company. So this is it: the PB Series. We now at this point offer it in a metallic gold, in black, and in white. All of them have nice binding on the guitar. The PB-401 PW here has a really nice pearl binding here as well.

I need awesome gear... I'd like a free gear catalog!
My opinion is awesome. I'd like to take a gear survey
