Expanding its lineup of iOS apps and tools, IK Multimedia has introduced the iRig Mix, a mobile mixer for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. According to IK Multimedia, the iRig Mix is the first of its kind and it offers the same controls you would expect from a professional DJ mixer (crossfader, cues, EQ and volume controls, and so forth) in a compact mobile mixer that can be used with a variety of iOS apps.

The iRig Mix allows DJs to use a traditional setup with two devices (one plugged into each of the independent channels), or a single iOS device. For the single iOS device setup, the output of the single device is split into  dual-mono and sent to the individual channels. Moreover, the iRig Mix can be used for mixing any type of audio source (MP3 players, CD players, and more) with an iOS device using the automatic tempo matching and beat-syncing features provided by X-Sync mode. X-Sync works in combination with the free IK Multimedia DJ Rig app that comes included with iRig Mix.

Though one might think the iRig Mix is meant solely for DJs, it's not. The iRig Mix also provides an ideal mixing solution for solo musicians or small ensembles that use one or more iOS devices to play live. The unit features an extra guitar / microphone input that facilitates processing with apps such as AmpliTube and VocaLive, or any other app that offers real-time audio processing. The mobile mixer's standard RCA connectors provide easy, direct connection to PA systems or powered speakers.

IK Multimedia's iRig Mix is super compact, allowing you to carry it in a regular iPad bag. What's more, its low-voltage power requirements (only 5VDC) allow it to be powered by any regular mobile device charger or a suitable iOS battery pack and laptop USB port. Mix anywhere, anytime.

The iRig Mix includes four free apps (via download from the iTunes App Store): DJ Rig, AmpliTube, VocaLive, and GrooveMaker.
