IK Multimedia AmpliTube Fender Stompboxes Do Not Mark Up Your Floor, And They Also Sound Good

July 29, 2009
IK Multimedia AmpliTube Fender demo 2

Now turning his attention to the virtual floor of IK Multimedia AmpliTube Fender, Owen O'Malley takes us on a newfangled StompBox Walkthru. At no time will you see his actual green sneaker touch a stompbox, yet O'Malley can fuzz and wah to his heart's content.

FYI: Owen's green sneaker is will be seen shortly in related demos. You see, we're listening to Amplitube Fender through the new IK Multimedia StealthPedal. Stay tuned.

Hmmmm

I really hope they did not skimpthose pedals better be true bypass. If not, they better have a damn good buffer circuit!

Hmmmmm indeed

I'm not sure if terminology like "true bypass" and "buffer circuit" necessarily apply in the virtual world. You might take comfort in knowing that "bypassing" a pedal does effectively remove the emulation module, freeing up processor power. It leaves the graphical representation of the pedal in the stompbox workspace, but otherwise it's like removing the pedal from your virtual chain entirely.

I supposed that's another advantage to having a virtual signal chain: no matter how many pedals you've loaded up, you're not degrading your signal at all unless your CPU trips up.

This video doesn't play

By: Disgruntled Macuser (not verified)

This video doesn't play correctly on Firefox 3 for Mac. Man-o-man, I wish you guys would go back to Quicktime. HATE HATE HATE FLASH!

Also annoying is how the Gearwire logo covers up all the stompboxes in the video.

Wait. Ok. Sorry. Now it DOES

Wait. Ok. Sorry. Now it DOES play. (Still hate Flash.)

Sorry to be a complainer. Thanks for a great look at this cool product. You started to play a lick that sounded just like the opening lick from Octopus's Garden for a second there, when you were testing the reverb stompbox. Cool! Sounded very authentic.
