Although their misuse of emergency may be panic inducing, Inklen introduces MixEmergency 1.0 for Mac. It's a visualization application for video-utilizing DJs to mix and manipulate videos and Quartz compositions on the fly.

Version 1.0 surfaces after three rounds of public beta testing and months of working out kinks discovered in this process. It also adds some new effects, a wet / dry mix control and a superior rendering pipeline. Inklen's Director, Nick Feisst, offered his take:

"We've tried to create a product that allows DJs to be more expressive with their visual sets. We're excited to be able to expand the range of possibilities that are easily available to DJs and VJs while also keeping the program simple enough for those just wishing to mix videos and add the occasional text or image overlay."

MixEmergency works as a plugin for Serato Scratch Live. It is completely MIDI controllable and pretty much all of MixEmergency's functions, like its 40 on-board effects and transitions, can easily be mapped to your MIDI controllers knobs, buttons and other things you can fidget with.
