JazzMutant Lemur: Musikmesse 2007 Video
JOE WALLACE: I'm Joe Wallace for Gearwire.Com. I'm at the JazzMutant Booth with Pascal Joguet, and we want to talk a little bit about Lemur. Tell me about Lemur.
PASCAL JOGUET: So, Lemur is a touch screen controller, a multi-touch screen controller. It is generally a controller. That means that you can do what you want with it. The idea is to have an empty window or an empty screen at the beginning and to build your own controllers. So, you can put with graphical objects library, you can choose faders, knobs, pads, etc., etc., and you build, really build your controller. And each object you have to map into a MIDI controller and to access the software. And the idea is really to build your own controller. I mean you can emulate each controller on the market, and of course because it's a multitouch screen, you can access several parameters at once also.
JOE WALLACE: Now, this has been out for a while. Are there any updates? Are there any new features? Are you showing off anything new related to Lemur at this show?
PASCAL JOGUET: Yes. So, the new features on the 1.6 version is the view objects and with new options also, and one of the best improvements on this version is that you can save inside the Lemur memory of your favorite interfaces. So, and you can also launch one at the startup, so you just switch on the Lemur and it displays your interface. And so, the Lemur is completely independent now. I mean it's a completely independent controller. And also, we have on the booth an example with [INDISCERNIBLE] project. So, [INDISCERNIBLE] is a company which is making projects from Ethernet to MIDI or Ethernet to DMX interface, and because the Lemur is a network and an internet device, you just plug one of these boxes to the Lemur and you're ready to go. You can control hardware synthesizers but of course also light. As you can see, there are different lights on the booth, and we are controlling these lights with the DMX protocol.
