JBL EON 305: New EON Line Keeps Token Passive Speaker Friend
His smooth accent playing off some classical strings, Simon Jones introduces us to another member of the new EON 300 and 500 series speakers. The JBL EON 305 is a passive member of the new EON range. It's great for those looking for a portable speaker that isn't already powered.
Don't expect this passive speaker to help you out with any decisions, though. It typically reverts to answers like, "I'm down for whatever" or "I don't know. What do you want to do?"
SIMON JONES: Hi. My name is Simon Jones. I'm the director of portable PA marketing for JBL professional. We're here today at the AES 2008 introducing the new generation of EON products. The new generation, I got to tell you a little bit about the previous generations.
In 1995, we launched the EON product. It was revolutionary. It was innovative, and it defined a new product category: the molded or composite enclosure, integrated powered loudspeaker system, and we've been doing that for 14 years and have had an incredible amount of success with that. There was a revision about eight years ago when we upped the power level and we added some features on the input section, and we called it EON G2. But AES, we're launching the next generation of EON, the EON500 Series and the EON300 Series, redefining the category of molded composite powered loudspeaker systems with lighter weight, more performance, and more power.
And we also, in the 300 Series, have a passive version, the EON305 where we got two standard NL4 1/4" combi Neutrik connectors here, you know, connectivity flexibility. So, imagine that you already had a powered mixer or a powered amplifier setup, you'd love the utility, you'll love the fact that there are suspension points on EON, you love the handles, you love the balance, the way it looked, the way it sounded, you didn't need the power so you can utilize your power and you can get it in a passive package. And then you wanted to add subs, you can daisy chain them out of here and it will go into the line level of the 518 sub and you have a four-bandwidth, full-on, full-scale PA system. How about that.
So there we have it, the next generation of EON portable PA. It goes up another level, raising the bar. We have the EON300 Series, we have the EON500 Series. More power, more performance, more portable, we like that.
