JBL EON 510: Stick It On Your Pole
We join the strongest man at AES, Simon Jones, where he's pumped to show us the EON 510. Running 250 watts, this completely portable 10" speaker system weighs in at a skimpy 17 pounds. Watch as Simon effortlessly juggles an entire speaker system, and for added fun, pretend Dean Cain is hosting it on Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
SIMON JONES: Hi. My name is Simon Jones. I'm the director of portable PA marketing for JBL professional. We're here today at the AES 2008 introducing the new generation of EON products. The new generation, I got to tell you a little bit about the previous generations.
In 1995, we launched the EON product. It was revolutionary. It was innovative, and it defined a new product category: the molded or composite enclosure, integrated powered loudspeaker system, and we've been doing that for 14 years and have had an incredible amount of success with that. There was a revision about eight years ago when we upped the power level and we added some features on the input section, and we called it EON G2. But AES, we're launching the next generation of EON, the EON500 Series and the EON300 Series, redefining the category of molded composite powered loudspeaker systems with lighter weight, more performance, and more power.
The EON510: It's a 10" two way powered by a 250-watt amplifier package. It has a built-in mixer on the input. This is actually a three-channel mixer. This is a tip-ring-sleeve but it's with a mono -- with discrete input on the tip and the ring, inputs one and two. So, for a very compact presentation or coffee shop PA system, you can put an iPod in here or mono sum the left and right inputs and you can put a microphone in this channel here, 17 pounds, stick it on your pole and there you have instant high-performance PA. It has the same attributes. We have the mono configurations as well.
So, in a nutshell, that's our 500, EON500 Series, more power, more performance, lighter weight, more portable.
