JBL LSR2300 Series Monitor System: Mixmasters Minus The Mike
The JBL LSR4300 series used to be JBL's "affordable" professional reference monitor solution, but these days, the approximately $550-per price tag doesn't seem as attainable as it once was. Those recession-sensitive fellows at JBL have a solution, however, and they're calling it the JBL LSR2300 series.
The JBL 2300s offer many of the same advantages of the LSR4300s -- highly efficient internal power, low-distortion drivers, durable construction -- but taken away the integrated room-correction components of the 4300s. What you get is JBL Professional sound reproduction at a lower price point (exactly how low has yet to be announced).
The LSR2300 series will include three founding models:
The LSRP2325P and LSR2328P are both two-way, bi-amped reference monitors. The LSR2325P rocks a 5" woofer and a frequency range of 52 Hz - 18 kHz, while the LSR2328P has an 8" woofer and a range of 44 Hz - 18 kHz. Both feature bass ports that double as heat escape for the cooling system, providing the monitors with both clean and tight bass response and extended operating lives.
Also in the line is the LSR2310SP, a powered, matching subwoofer with a 10" driver and 180 watt power amp. The LSR2310P sports an internal crossover for use in conjunction with a pair of "main" speakers; LR XLR and 1/4" outputs are located on the back of the sub.
All the models in the LSR2300 series feature XLR, 1/4" and RCA inputs and are magnetically shielded for worry-free use within close proximity of computer monitors and magnetic media.

An MSRP on the LSR2300's would be nice
The fact that JBL resonated enough marketing sense to create a semi-pro line of LSR series at an entry level price(?) is an awfully exciting prospect(for myself especially),as I've always wanted a bare bones version of the LSR line(without all the bells & whistles, such as the RMC correction & remote operation).
As far as I am concerened, features such as automatic room calibration & remote control is a bunch of arbitrary fluff, when one considers that such luxuries do not make for practical learning,in terms of attaining knowledge of room acoustics.
All this being said,I am EXTREMELY disappointed that JBL has not provided the MSRP on these honies-especially so,in the light of the fact that JBL IS SPEWING PROPAGANDA EVERYWHERE ABOUT HOW AFFORDABLE THE 2300 SERIES IS AND HOW THEY ARE OFFERING PRO QUALITY AT AN ENTRY LEVEL PRICE.
I wish JBL would stop toying with my emotions & cease tormenting me,by having the decency to reveal the list price-so at the very least,I can get a RAW IDEA OF WHAT TO EXPECT,in terms of a street price.
Is my request unreasonable to anyone here?
