Joel Singer Talks About His Army Of Mobile Broadcast Studios (Video)
Geared up in more ways than one, the two trucks of Music Mix Mobile are impressive both inside and out. On the exterior they look like the roving headquarters of the Knight Foundation, and inside they look like the world-class recording studios that they basically are (minus the espresso machine).
Gino Robair spoke with Tech Engineer and mixer Joel Singer in Los Angeles, where Music Mix Mobile (or M3) was providing mix support for the 2010 Grammy Awards Show. Singer gave us a tour around M3 West, the company's west-coast truck (Singer says M3 East is a mirror image, which must be hell for right-handed mix engineers). M3 West is outfitted with the cutting edge in studio technology, including a 160-channel Pro Tools HD rig, Genelec 5.1 monitoring setup, a plethora of RME MADI gear, and a full complement of Grace Designs m802 remote microphone preamps. My goodness.
