John Storyk Of Walters-Storyk Design Group: The Evolution Of The Live Room
If you want to know what's going on in the music industry, just look at where the studios are being built, and what they look like. Heading this newly coined axiom (™ and © Gearwire 2009, yo) we spoke with John Storyk -- founding partner of the Walters-Storyk Design group and architect behind Electric Lady Studios -- about the ever-evolving shape of the modern recording studio.
This is the second of our two-part interview with Mr. Storyk. In the first segment we spoke about how changes in recording technology have impacted the design of the control room. It follows, then, that our next subject of discussion would be that other room in most studios. That's right, we talk about plumbing. Ain't it grand? (NB: at no point during this interview do we talk about plumbing).
