JZ Microphones Black Hole SE: Return Of The Black Hole
The release of JZ Microphones' Black Hole a few months back has received some praise by industry professionals like Rob Chiarelli [Christina Aguilera, Will Smith, Madonna, Janet Jackson] and Bryan Carlstrom [Alice in Chains, Rob Zombie, The Offspring]. As a result, JZ Microphones is launching the Black Hole SE, also known as the BH-2. Mic designer Juris Zarins, the Latvian Jay Z, explains the differences between the original Black Hole and the new SE version:
“The new mic will be in the same quality and has the same design as Black Hole. The main difference is that it is produced as fixed cardioid microphone and price tag is less expensive. I think it is the right gear for everyone who is looking forward to recording as professional, also in home and project studios!”
Nixing switchable polar patterns will, in the end, save consumers about $350.00. The BH-2 is a cardioid condenser microphone with a large, genuine electrostatic capsule. This new capsule has a single tap diaphragm and patented variable sputtering with a mixed alloy for coating.
BH-2 Features:
- Cardioid condenser microphone
- Class A discrete amplifier circuit
- One large, true electrostatic capsule inside the compact head
- New special capsule with single, less centre tap diaphragm and adjustable backplate
- Patterned variable sputtering of diaphragm, using specially mixed alloy for coating
- Integrated capsule shockmount
