JZ Microphones Black Hole PE (BH-3): Also, It's Green(ish)!
Did you know that "Sound Can Be Glorious?" It's true! It says so right on the JZ Microphones website, and I make it a rule to only trust people named JZ.
A few months ago, JZ Mic's released the Black Hole. Thankfully, the earth did not collapse into negative infinity, and the Black Hole mics have proven so popular (according to the infallible JZ) that the company has released its third variant, he PE, aka BH-3.
The awkwardly named PE (BH-3) follows the same basic design specs of the preceding Black Hole mics: 27mm diaphragm, class A circuiting, style-for-miles. The BH-3 features a fixed cardioid pattern, like the BH-2 (son of BH) but adds a two position pad switch with -5 or -10db roll-off. This adds to the versatility of the BH-3, making it suitable for high SPL applications like miking a guitar cab or even a kick drum. As JZ testifies:
"As capsule of the Black Hole could handle 135db SPL this mic can manage also an operatic soprano at close range."
If anyone knows about artist management, it's JZ.
