Karma-Lab KARMA M50: One Good Reason Not To Save Up For The M3
Assumedly rife with beakers and flasks, Karma-Lab has done it again with the release of KARMA M50 software. The new software gives M50 owners access to the same set of KARMA functions that you'd get the Korg M3 and OASYS keyboards. At a price of $199, this makes buying an M50 and the KARMA M50 software a pretty crazy value in comparison to the pricier keyboards with KARMA technology already inside.
Here's what you get with KARMA M50: all the KARMA features, grooves and KARMA-fied Combis and Programs from the M3. Here's what you need with KARMA M50: a Mac running Mac OS X 10.3.9 or higher or a PC running Windows XP or Vista in either 32 or 64 bit. You'll also need an M50 keyboard, of course.
Getting down to brass tax, the KARMA M50 contains 384 KARMA-fied Combis from the M3 and 608 KARMA Program assignments for the M50's Programs. KARMA M50 even converts your M50's four knobs and chord switches into controllers that change between eight KARMA scenes, trigger eight KARMA chord buttons, move sliders and switches in the KARMA Real-Time control Window and more.
Adding an external controller is easy to interface if you're a real control freak. You can also import .mid files and turn them to GEs (Generated Effects) to spice up your phrases like a pan of gumbo.
