Korg M50 Workstation Rocks AES Gently Back And Forth Like A Patient Nanny

If you can't fit the Korg M3 "into your pocketbook," you probably have a normal-sized pocketbook. In that case, buying a Korg M50 instead isn't going to do you any good -- it's only slightly smaller than the M3. If you use, say, a normal-sized gym duffel to carry your wallet and personal effects around all day, than the M50 is perfect for you!

Another nice thing about the M50 is that it's relatively inexpensive, but still sounds pretty great, as this video attests to. Leave it on in the background for your next candlelit date night.

[AARON BARNHART PERFORMING ON THE KORG M50]

AARON BARNHART: Hey. I'm Aaron Barnhart with Korg USA, here at the 2008 AES Convention, and we're showing off our latest workstation, the Korg M50. This is an incredibly powerful synthesizer with tons of great sounds, borrowing a lot of the technology from its bigger brother, the M3. So if you've heard about the M3 and it doesn't quite fit your pocketbook, then this is the great option. We're starting at under $1,200 for a really powerful synth.

You've got a built-in touch screen, the same as its big brother. You have four pads that enable you to trigger chords, send MIDI notes, play drums, anything you'd like to do there, and then we also have built in four real time control knobs that can control up to 12 different functions. If you're using a computer, the M50 is a perfect companion because not only can you connect your computer to the M50 via USB, buy you can also utilize one of the templates to control your favorite software from Digital Performer to Fruity Loops and the list goes on. So, it's a really nice companion to your DAW system.

Tons of great sounds, you can layer 16 combinations together in combi mode. We just have a newly designed piano that sounds amazing, and a 16-channel -- 16-track sequencer that enables you to make your songs and produce them from start to finish, and it should be releasing at the end of the month. It's exciting new technology at a very affordable price point, and that's the Korg M50.
