Korg MR-2000S Version 1.5 Update: Lots Of New Features, Still One Bit
If you own a Korg MR-2000S 1-bit DSD recorder, you're already probably a big fan of Korg. Well get ready to become a superfan. Korg has announced a semi-major upgrade for the MR-2000S's operating system that adds a whole bunch of useful features, and it's available as a free download. Heck, I don't even own one and this news still makes me want to start a "Friends Of Korg 1-Bit Recorders" group on Facebook.
For starters, the update (1.5) adds a multi-sync mode for daisy-chaining multiple MRs together for multi-tracking. One recorder is designated the "master," and its transport functions control the rest of the recorders in line behind it. It makes the MR-2000S a much more desirable recorder for recording studios.
Also of interest to multi-trackers: the new dual-mono mode. Now the MR-2000S can record parallel, mono audio files instead of a single stereo file, making importing recordings into DAWs that much easier.
Korg has also added some work flow refinements, including a new function that allows up to 400 "settings" files to be saved. It's perfect for units that get used for many different tasks or by many different engineers in the same studio. There's also now a scrub feature that allows for audio monitoring during rewind and fast-forward.
Other updates include support of S/PIDF link protocol, .AIFF file format support, and a new version of the AudioGate file management software for archiving and converting files recorded on the MR-2000S.
Again, all this is included in a free upgrade. Say "thank you."
