Korg Pandora Mini Joins Palm-Sized Processor Line

January 13, 2011
Korg announced the new Pandora Mini battery-powered multi-effect processor featuring 158 effects and 400 Programs.

Say hello to the new version of the little Korg Pandora -- at Winter NAMM 2011, Korg introduced the Pandora Mini, the latest incarnation of the battery-powered multi-effect processor.

Created with both guitarists and bass players in mind, the Pandora Mini adds more features, effects, and programs in a small size. The Pandora Mini is powered by Korg’s REMS (Resonant structure and Electronic circuit Modeling System) and delivers 158 effects, divided into seven categories: Pickup and Dynamic Models, Amp Models, Cabinet Models, Modulation and Filter Effects, Delays, Reverbs, and Noise Reduction.

Up to seven effects can be used simultaneously in a single Program, and 400 Programs are available. The Pandora Mini includes 200 Preset Programs and 200 User Program locations for storing new or customized sounds, and of the 200 Preset Programs, 115 are Song Presets. Each According to Korg, each Song Preset instantly captures the signature tone used by a legendary guitarist to create one of their classic hits. Four Memory buttons are available to instantly call up your favorite presets.

About the same size as an instrument tuner, the Pandora Mini also offers 100 rhythm and metronome patterns for tempo training, jamming, and composing. The Tap button makes it easy to set the rhythm or delay tempo, while the AUX input allows you to jam along with an MP3 player, CD player, or other media player. The AUX pitch function varies the pitch of the audio input by ±1 octave, making it easy to match the key of the song. An auto-tuner with muting is also built in.

Battery powered for on-the-go operation, the Pandora Mini may also be powered via USB when connected to a computer. Once connected, the sound editing software (available as a free download) can be used to edit and manage libraries of programs.

Korg expects to begin shipping the Pandora Mini multi-effect processor in April, 2011 for $225 (MSRP). For more details, visit Korg's Web site at korg.com.

For the price this tiny

For the price this tiny handheld effects device is so small and convenient, plus it just sound fantastic. As with all multi-effects, there will be some tones that you will want to change, but many of these pre-programmed tones and effects just blow away some of my more expensive foot pedals and after years of chasing great pedals tones, and spending lots of money on them.
