Kurzweil PC3X: Homemade Chips Make The PC3X Great

Kurzweil PC3X

Storming NAMM 2008 this winter is Kurzweil's PC3X, the latest model of their ultimate performance controller keyboard. Sporting a sleek new design and Kurzweil's cutting edge chip technology under the hood, the PC3X delivers tons of top notch voices and features across 88 keys.

Their Triple Strike Grand Piano action is complemented by hundreds of new sounds including basses, drums, guitars, and synths suited for a wide variety of styles and a range of vintage keyboard emulations and orchestral / string programs. New to the PC3X is the Dynamic V.A.S.T. architecture resulting from faster processing power and greater flexibility with creation and storage of DSP settings.

Kurzweil also throws in an unlimited-track sequencer, making it a full blown production workstation. A set of powerful song editing functions including step editing, swing, and controller scaling make this an excellent workstation. Four independent arpeggiators and a collection of pre-recorded beats and phrases are thrown in as well.

The PC3X also brings back the VA-1 Virtual Analog Synthesizer. It gives you the reigns of command over power-shaped, anti-aliasing oscillators and a larger set of new V.A.S.T. filters and non-linear processors. Cascade mode makes routing and layering quite an intensive experience, and the three layer limit imposed in the K26 days is over. Tons of tones and new features make the PC3X a hot ticket item this year.
