Lace Alumitone Bass Pickups: 60-Cycle Hum Is Foiled Again By Lace

Lace Alumitone Bass Pickups

Do you prefer the sound of a passive bass, and if so, are starting to go slowly insane in your attempt to eliminate 60-cycle hum from your setup? Do your stock soapbar pickups sound a little lifeless and flat? Perhaps you should switch to Alumitone pickups from Lace.

Yes, the venerable manufacturers of the famed Lace Sensor pickups have finally released a Bass version of their new Alumitone pickup design. The Alumitone design acts like a humbucker might, but by using an aluminum frame that doubles as a replacement for the conductive wire coils, the pickups achieve an even quieter performance with less than half the weight of a conventional soapbar.

The Alumitone design also results in a higher output, and extended tonal range. Plus they look like the ashtray covers from a 1955 Ford Fairlane.

The Alumitone bass pickups are available in four, five and six string sizes (labeled the 3.5, 4 and 4.5 models, respectively and confusingly). The pickups will be demoed at the upcoming Summer NAMM in Nashville.
