Lauten Audio ST-221 Torch: Doesn't Anyone Have Any Damned Missiles Left?!
Any fashionista worth his or her weight in Louis Vuitton bags knows that to be the best, you have to accessorize. The Lauten Audio ST-221 Torch mics are all about the accessories, bringing two of everything you'll need to get the most out of this studio pair. Of course, the Torch mics are also about capturing some high quality audio from all angles, just like the Human Torch is about catching criminals from all angles.
BRIAN LOUDENSLAGER: Hi. My name is Brian Loudenslager, and I'm the founder of Lauten Audio, and we produce studio microphones, and I'd like to introduce you first to our recently shipping which are Torch ST-221 small diaphragm tube microphones. They are sold as a pair and they come with both omni and cardiod capsules, which are interchangeable.
A couple of the design characteristics that we paid attention to with these mics was first of them off, they're not your typical small-diaphragm mic sound that you might expect. They do have the fast transient response which you might be used to. However, we focused on increasing the low end, which partially comes from the small peanut tube that we have in there, and we also paid a lot of attention to dynamic range because we wanted them to be able to be used on acoustic drums, in front of kick drums, on snare drums, and things like that.
The package comes with just about every accessory you can think of. It comes with a stereo mounting bar, two shock mounts, two hard mounts, two matched power supplies, and it comes with our custom specified foam windscreens which we specified the PPI which is pores per square inch, which makes it perfect for studio use and has minimal impact on the frequency response.
So, these microphones can be used everywhere from drums, guitar amplifiers, acoustic guitars, room mics, and it really offers a different flavor of small diaphragm microphones out there on the market.
