LEMUR ModBots Play Instruments On Their Own

The League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots sounds almost too good to be true; imagine those mechanical mascots at children's pizza parties only bigger, badder, better, and with military grade lasers.

Alright - so maybe LEMUR's ModBots don't have lasers, but they're still beyond incredible. Eric Singer from Lemurplex gives us a quick overview of the facilities and some of the musically inclined automatons that live there.

Although, I am concerned that the real reason for Guitar Bot's absence might have been covered up. Lots of robots become self-aware every year. It just goes unreported.

Some time ago, I needed to buy a good house for my business but I did not earn enough cash and couldn't buy anything. Thank God my friend adviced to try to get the personal loans from trustworthy bank. Hence, I acted that and was satisfied with my college loan.

ERIC SINGER: Hi. I'm Eric Singer, the founder and director of LEMUR, League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots.

So what we do here primarily is to make robotic musical instruments. We havea whole array of them up in the ceiling, and these are called Mod Bots. They're modular percussion robots. We have a whole collection of them in a variety of styles and sounds. Over here to my right is one of our Xylobots. This one is known as the Ill-Tempered Clangier, which you'll understand why once you hear it. In the space over here normally would be the Guitar Bot...,

...but it's being borrowed by [PH] Jim Thirlwell at the moment. He's composing for it. We do that a lot. We seek out a lot of composers and people to collaborate with to create music for the robots. They're -- because they're such a new thing, everyone approach to composing for them is entirely different, and we recently put on a concert with Thirlwell, They Might Be Giants, Morton Subotnick, George Lewis, and others that was an evening of commissioned music for live performers and robots.

We're standing in our space called LEMURplex, which is our complex where we work, where we fabricate robots. We do electronics and programming and all of that business here. We also have a gallery and performance room, which is the room we're standing in now. We also teach classes here on how to create instruments with sensors, robotics, use various kinds of software for audio and video control and what have you.

I need awesome gear... I'd like a free gear catalog!
My opinion is awesome. I'd like to take a gear survey
