Leslie Sanford Phaser: This Is The Biggest One Ever! You Hear That Elizabeth? I'm Coming To Join You, Honey!
Antecedent to receiving the latest press Release from Leslie Sanford, I learned two things: 1) that Leslie Sanford has a new, free plugin that recreates classic phasing effects from the 70s, and 2) that the classic sitcom from the 70s Sanford & Son was based on a BBC sitcom called Steptoe & Son. If you're whole epistemology isn't now utterly nuked, continue reading:
Leslie Sanford is a bit of a renaissance man. He's a professional photographer, composer and programmer, and his website showcases aspects of each of this Jack's trades. His newest endeavor is producing and making available free VST effects, and the first one is called, simply, the Sanford Phaser. This spartan plugin's GUI may resemble your DAW's "settings" menu, but the classic-sounding effects has a few nice features:
- Up to 16 stages
- "Quad" LFO modulation for enhanced stereo sound
- Modulation wheel and Aftertouch can be routed to control the LFO's modulation depth
- Feedback for creating deeper resonant effects
- LFO speed can be synchronized to tempo
Again, the download is free, and if it becomes popular enough, perhaps Mr. Sanford will be swayed to give up his junker's life for good and become a full-time plugin developer.
