Line 6

It is tiring to change pedalboard setup after setup whenever you play with that pop band one time and then an extreme metal band the next. The Line 6 M9 stompbox modeler is promising to provide that release from those tedious setup changes.  

GW Guest Blogger Rowbi is a regular contributor at the Line 6 forums, and as such he's more familiar with their ever-expanding line of digital modeling amps than most. The Line 6 Spider Valve MKII series was announced last month, but you should really hear Rowbi's take on the things.

The Line 6 POD Studio KB37 picks up where the Toneport KB37 left off in this quest as shipping of these units kicked off recently, and not a moment too soon. Oh, the humanity!  

Banking on the existence of a huge guitarist-iDork cross demographic*, Line 6 and Planet Waves announced their collaboration on a new iPhone app at the World Wide Developers Conference. And what does it do? Why, it wirelessly controls your Line 6 Variax (and possibly Vetta amp), of course! . . . sigh.

*and based on the success of the Chordmaster App, I'd say it's a safe bet they're making.

I guess the point here is that the JM4 Looper is missing an "A" and it has an extra "4 Looper." Not that it's not a looper, but it's both more and less than a looper at the same time. Watch this demo to see if it really suits your needs, which it might do more or less than you think.  

Anyone familiar with the effects rigs of Minus The Bear knows that when Alex Rose says they use "about a million of Line 6's delay pedals," he's only slightly exaggerating. Luckily, he's been able to consolidate a lot of his effects now that the Line 6 M13 is available.  

We head on out to the rural part of the Moscone Center to check out the new Line 6 POD Farm. It contains a fresh crop of amp and effects emulations, and Line 6 practices crop rotation by growing some mic preamp models as well.  

The stealthy little Line 6 Backtrack is small enough to clip onto your guitar strap or belt, where it's constantly recording your guitar playing, waiting for inspiration to strike. Of course, it'll also record all the terrible ideas you come up with, but you don't have to play that stuff back for anybody.  

In addition to have 12 scenes capable of storing a dozen different stompbox models each, the Line 6 M13 has a built-in looper as well. The next version is rumored to have built in amps, guitars and guitarists, so you can do what you really want to do -- sip lemonade!  

Line 6's Dave Lenat shows how far the M13 can take your tone. Thanks to the Line 6 FM4 effects within and some crazier effects -- like a reverb with its own stringy tonality, you'll never be at a lack of juicy tonal options.  

The Line 6 Flextone Combo Amp may not be technically "tubular," but the addition of the hella sicky Line 6 FBV Shortboard does make it officially "bodacious." Join resident boarder J. Irving-Giles as he shoots the curl, brah.  

Modeling half a century of amps that range from squeaky clean to mud-wrestler dirty, the Line 6 Flextone III boasts more flexibility than a Romanian gymnast and doesn't mind showing it off like Terry Bolea at a Venice Beatch flex-off.  

Dave Lenat from Line 6 pays us a visit to show us the new M13 Stompbox Modeler. Analog purists can scoff, but the M13 delivers without the jungle of jumper cables.  

Line 6 continues to push the envelope filter in modeling with the Lowdown Studio 110 bass combo amp. Not only does it model a few good amps, it also can turn your real bass into a synth bass!
