Line 6 POD HD500: Useful Looper, Slightly Less Universally Useful Deep Presets (Video)
October 22, 2010
Back with Dave Lenat in the Gearwire studio, we continue our look at the new Line 6 POD HD500. In Part 1 we listened to some of the new "HD" amp models; now we're taking a look at the advanced looper functions, which include 1/2 speed and reverse functions, as well as the ability to place the looper pre or post amp and effects.
Dave also treats us to some of the POD HD500's factory presets, including a virtual amp and pedal board rig that'll have you doing an impressive Hendrix impression. We also check out a few presets with some more, shall we say, specialized applications.

A64 meaning...
I think A64 means Atari 64 sounds... Looks like it. Nice review ;)

Bufa,
Thanks!! I'll bet your right. I'll ask the guys who did the sounds and report back.

Presets? - Toss 'em!
I found the presets basically worthless for anything practical. What did really strike me is how awesome the core amp models were. It's hard to get amp models this good without the real amp. Adding crunch and distortions to the base core models then yielded some really nice and useful tone.
Getting wacked out and useless sounds is simple. Getting great useful and portable tones is something Line 6 has really advanced in this new series of amp modelers, at a much more affordable price then anything currently above it in my opinion.
