Livid Instruments Block MIDI Controller Adds Expansion Jacks

May 16, 2011
Livid Instruments has added expansion jacks to the Block, a compact and programmable MIDI control surface.

Your familiar Livid Instruments Block controller has been revamped with new expansion jacks, which provide the compact and programmable MIDI control surface with added adaptability, control, and flexibility.

The Block is a programmable MIDI control surface specially designed for interactive audio performance. Built on the same bi-directional and adaptable platform as the Ohm64, the Block provides a powerful, easy to use interface for creating and interacting with sound. Its matrix-style backlit LED buttons provide many possibilities for visual feedback, while presets and templates make the Block a versatile controller for Ableton Live, Propellerhead Reason and Record, Native Instruments Traktor Pro, Cycling '74 Max / MSP, ArKaos Grand VJ, Livid Instruments Cell DNA, and other software. According to the manufacturer, a growing number of open source applications and utilities turns the Block into the ultimate adaptable and portable control surface.

Livid Instruments, the Austin, Texas-based manufacturer, is happy to announce that all Block controllers now come with the new expansion module. The two 1/4-inch jacks allow you to connect Roland-style foot pedals and single analog controls to the Block; you can put your feet in the mix for additional controls, or experiment by adding different sensors and switches.

In addition, you can add up to eight more analog controls with the pin header connection, which provides a direct link into the Block controller’s Brain, allowing you to experiment with touch controls, sensors, accelerometers, faders, rotary knobs, and more. The company's Builder series BYOB boards can be integrated as well, for a customized, highly personal modular setup.
